Opening Scene
The sun's high in the clear blue sky, shining brightly on this beautiful day. A refreshing ocean breeze gently blows by and the waves are calling. He’d been napping on the pier again, lazily soaking up the sun when the sound of nearing footsteps caught Jasper’s ear. ***Probably local kids sneaking up. Ha, like they could get the jump on me,*** he mused inwardly, an amused brow twitching slightly. Groaning, he rolled to look over the edge of the old sunbleached planks, his muscles protesting the movement after hours of lying about. A light seabreeze ruffled the hair around his shoulders as he silently watched from above as an unfamiliar face neared the lapping water’s edge. He waited until he was sure that they didn’t know he was there, then with the most charming crooked smile he could muster, he called out, “Hey there! Don’t think I’ve seen you here before…” In a single fluid motion, Jasper swung his legs over the pier and hopped down, landing effortlessly. As he stood before them, the sun caught his handsome features just right; skin tanned and toned from surfing, windswept teal hair with the top half messily pulled back, shining amber eyes like liquid gold, and a Polynesian tattoo spanning the upper three-fourths of his right arm. "You're new in town, huh?” he asked, as he stood tall with his hands on his hips and flashed a cheekier grin. Rather than wait for a reply, though, he abruptly thrust out his hand for the newcomer to shake and added, “Name's Jasper. Anyone offer to show you ‘round yet? If not, consider me the man for the job."
